Pollen and window smudges: how springtime affects your glass
That yellow dust? It’s not your imagination
Spring is lovely – until you realise your windows look like they’ve been dipped in custard powder. Pollen is everywhere, and your glass takes the brunt of it.
What makes pollen so pesky
- It’s light and sticky (a terrible combo!)
- It clings to damp glass after spring rain
- It builds up fast, especially near trees and hedgerows
- It attracts even more dust and grime
The solution? Stay ahead of it
- Book regular cleans during peak season (usually March – May)
- Keep windows closed when pollen counts are high
- Wipe down external sills every few days
- Clean conservatories and skylights too, they catch more than you think
Homes in greener spots like Swanmore or Alresford often get hit hardest. But even if you’re in a more urban area, it doesn’t take much breeze to coat your windows in a fine layer of yellow fuzz.
